A Plea for World Peace

Lord make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow your love. Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord. Where there is doubt, true faith in You. Where there is despair in life, let Him bring hope. Where there is darkness, let Him bring light. Where there is sadness, ever joy.

Oh Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console. To be understood, as to understand, to be Loved, as to love with all my soul. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned. It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

World Peace.....Is it an unattainable goal or do the world's many people just need to try harder?
Sadly, I see too many in this world that profit by the strife and dissention in our world. So long as there are world leaders who will not listen to and act upon the messages offered in the above prayer, there is little hope for the world to find true and lasting peace in all it's varied lands. The message imparted in St Francis' Prayer is very universal. Remove the references to the Christian God in the Prayer of St Francis, and the core message still stands alone. It puts other people ahead of any one individual in the equation. It makes each of us responsible for doing good, not evil. Not just when it is convenient for us to do so, but ALL THE TIME, in every circumstance.

I have reworked the Prayer and made it a personal admonishment. If all the peoples of the world could embrace this as a personal creed, World Peace would be much closer to an attainable goal.

Make ME an instrument of Peace. Where there is hatred, let ME sow Love. Where there is injury, I will Forgive. Where there is doubt, I will Believe in the goodness of others. Where there is despair in life, let ME bring Hope. Where there is darkness, let ME shed Light. Where there is sadness, let ME provide Joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to Console. Not so much be understood, as to Understand. To be loved, as to Love others with all MY being. For it is in Giving that I will receive. It is in Pardoning that I will be pardoned. It is in allowing others to Live that I am the most alive myself.

Until the day when the World's people truly embrace love for all others above love of self, let All Those who Love and Care continue in Prayerful efforts to their God, Mohammed, Allah, Buddha, Nature and every other true felt Deity and beg that the hatred and mistrust of militants, terrorists and hate groups be turned toward a true desire to Accept in Love the former targets of their despising.

PRAYERS FOR PEACE
just may be the last and best chance that our World will have to survive into the next Millenium.
