A Junk Food Junkie's Healthy Recipes

Once in a while--no matter how well you are doing on a diet--and how unhungry you are staying--the "I want something sinful" Monster sneaks up on you.

I have found a couple of recipes that seem so wicked but don't use a whole lot of my daily allotment of precious points (Weight Watchers doesn't count calories, they assign point values to all possible foods and want you to keep within a point range everyday, based on your present weight.)

I want to share these pigout foods with you and hope you will email me with some simular recipes that I can use in the future. If I ever get tired of these particular ones.

Toasted Ham and Cheese Sandwich

2 slices of low calorie, high-fiber bread
1 oz. thin-sliced low-fat ham (such as
Healthy Choice brand)
1 slice of no-fat American cheese(Borden is a good brand)
2 slices of tomato (homegrown is best, if available)
PAM (or another brand) butter flavored cooking spray

Heat a non-stick skillit over medium heat.  Assemble the sandwich. Spray the cooking spray into pan to coat the whole surface well. Toast one side, flip and toast other side.

It's not as greasy as a regular toasted cheese sandwich, but still tastes really good and the butter flavor adds a nice dimension.  On the WW diet, this is only 3 points. One each for the bread, ham and cheese and zero for the tomato and cooking spray.

More than Just a Plain Dog

1 or 2 no-fat, low calorie hot dogs(I like the Oscar Mayer ones best of all)
1 or 2 Light hot dog buns (Wonder Bread has one that is 80 calories, 4 grm fiber each)
PAM or other cooking spray (butter flavor or other)
Mustard, ketsup, dill pickle relish, chopped onion

Split the dog(s) length-wise not quite cutting through. Heat a no stick skillit and coat with cooking spray. Fry dog(s) until hot and optionally, give them a nice well done (blackened) appearance. That's the way I like 'em.  Use whatever condiments and relishes that you most like liberally in the bun, then when dogs are the way you like them, lay them into buns. You can also use sauerkraut
without adding calories. One or two tablespoons of spicy vegetarian chili will add calories that must be counted but is also wonderful.

WW points for well dressed dogs without chili is only 2 points each and believe me when I say that two hot dogs makes you feel like you've cheated on your diet big time! Yet only has 4 pts. total. Even with chili, these are not going to be more than 3 pts. each, so live it up once in a while!
